I thought this would be an interesting discussion for some of us in here. A topic of recent sermons brought this topic to mind. Our pastor has been preaching a serious on the Atonement and what Jesus has provided for those of us who are born again.
Questions before they are asked section:
Do I think all mental illness is demonic? Nope. Do I think many if not most are? Yes. You bet. Yes indeed. Absolutely.
Are you afraid of demons? Not even a little. I am born again.
What about the stories of the men in the tombs? Do you think there are people like that today? Yes indeed. Maybe the three old boys in the story above. Seriously, today people do not have to run in the tombs and cut themselves with stones. They do it on stage and people pay to see it. Marilyn Manson comes right to mind and I am sure there are others like him. I know this may hurt some feelings, and I sure don’t’ want to do that, but I cannot read about those who cut themselves without thinking of the man in the tombs. I cannot. It is the same thing.
Is there help? Yes, His name is Jesus.
Some one may ask if I think a Christian can have demons. That is a whole other topic. I would say yes if that Christian yield to certain sins but the cure is still the same. Jesus. Ephesians 4:26-28
Romans 8: 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 John 3
1 John 5
1As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.
12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. 13For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
17I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'
18We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. 19We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
These news stories fit this topic also. I read them and thought, "Try and tell me people are not demon possessed today."
Castration ring’s key figures gain freedom
WAYNESVILLE — The six men castrated in a sadomasochistic dungeon fashioned from an enclosed carport all told prosecutors they saw no need for criminal charges.
Richard Peter "Master Rick" Sciara and his partner of 20 years, Michael Mendez, both pleaded guilty to felony castration without malice and felony maiming without malice. The man Sciara and Mendez called their slave, Danny Carroll Reeves, also pleaded guilty to the charges.
He said at least two of the men who visited the home were interested in extreme body modification.
They wanted Sciara to amputate their legs above the knees and had already each cut a finger off with garden shears to show their love for one another.
Sciara would not perform the amputation, he said.
Demons--- The three pervs and their visitors. Demons one and all. No doubt about it.
Then there is this story:
Authorities locate ’cat lady’ suspected of killing 650 animals
Investigators from the Franklin County Animal Shelter and the Capital Area Humane Society say McLaughlin has described drowning hundreds of animals in a large trash can filled with water.
McLaughlin also showed investigators 16 envelopes that had names and descriptions of animals written on them as well as the dates of their deaths, Hedrick said.
The envelopes contained fur or hair
She said she did it to help the animals. Okay then.
